Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's new-found admiration for Karl Marx has stumped many in the state.
But that doesn't mean she is converting to socialism or aligning with the Left. Her appreciation was restricted to quoting Marx to certify that her government was moving on the right track.
"When ideas capture the minds of men, they become a material force in society," the AIADMK supremo said while recalling Marx at the inauguration of German automobile giant Dailmer's plant on the outskirts of Chennai, built at a cost of Rs.4,000 crore.
Taking credit for setting up the plant, Jayalalithaa claimed Dailmer had scaled up investment by Rs.1,000 crore, attracted by her government's package for industrial growth
