Canon introduces the stylish PowerShot ELPH 500 HS (known as IXUS 310 HS in Europe and as IXY 31S in Japan) digital camera with a touch panel LCD.

Experience an even more intuitive touch panel technology with the PowerShot ELPH 500 HS digital camera. Do almost everything right on the LCD – like choosing an AF point, set exposure settings and record videos – all with the touch of one finger.

With a 12.1 Megapixel CMOS sensor and DIGIC 4 image processor, the camera comes with the HS SYSTEM technology to enhance image quality in low-light situations without the need for a flash.

It’s packed with great Canon essentials like an f/2.0 lens, the HS SYSTEM, 24mm Wide-Angle Lens and a 3.2-inch touch screen LCD for touch operation.

It supports Full 1080p HD video recording and features the Movie Digest Mode that records a short video clip right before shooting a still image and then combines one day’s worth of clips into one video.

The touch screen camera includes also Face Detectionno, Motion Detection, ISO up to 3200, Smart AUTO mode that intelligently selects the proper settings for the camera based on 32 predefined shooting situations; High-speed Burst Mode that captures 8.2fps and Super Slow Motion Movie that records video at high speeds to allow slow motion playback.

Coming in March, the Canon PowerShot ELPH 500 HS will be priced at $300 and comes in silver, pink and brown.
