The Icon of Marine Life: The Sea Horse

The Icon of Marine Life: The Sea Horse

Sea horses swimming are often used to represent the icon of the marine life. It is almost uncommon to see them swimming, however. This photo was taken in a rare case when one small yellow sea horse was swimming far from the reef. A small snail on its tail transforms this rare case into a sort of unique image. This photo was taken in the waters of Kavieng in Papua New Guinea.

In most of the cases, sea horses stay near the reef or sand and it is very difficult to take pictures with a nice background. This unusual photo was taken in Lembeh Strait near Manado, Indonesia, with backlighting, in order to create a very suggestive image
